Christian Spirituality is More than a Set of Beliefs
Christian spirituality is a condition or a state of being. It has nothing to do with religion or tradition and it is far more than ideology.
This state of being requires a paradigm shift. It is the same shift that Jesus himself experienced after being led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit. There, he broke free from all ties to the physical world, battling Satan to do so. He emerged in the power of the Spirit with His cry to the people,
“Repent. The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”
Jesus made it clear, through this one powerful statement, that heaven was among us. The spiritual realm, the home of our God, Yahweh, is here…at hand.
True Christian spirituality requires us to break free from our ties to the physical world and dwell in that heavenly realm. We are no longer to consider ourselves a human body who has a soul, but a spirit who has a human body.
That spirit was created to be in constant communion with Yahweh. And through the work of Christ, we can connect in true Holy Matrimony to our Spirit God.
Our scripture references are:
Yet the time is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Indeed, the Father is looking for people like that to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (NIV)
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. (NIV)
